Actor Michael Jace, best known for appearing on The Shield, reportedly shot and killed his wife on Monday night, then called the police to report himself. According to police, Jace called 911 around 8:30 PM and said, “I shot my wife.”
TMZ reports that Jace stayed on the phone until police arrived and found his wife, April Jace, 40, dead on the scene. They also report that Jace’s two children, both under 10, witnessed the killing.
It’s not clear yet what caused the shooting, but one report says that it appeared to “have started as a domestic-related incident.” Jace has reportedly been booked for murder by the LAPD.
The Los Angeles Times reports that since January 2007, at least 57 homicides have been reported within a mile of the shooting scene.
Jace, 50, also appeared in the films Planet of the Apes, Forrest Gump, and Boogie Nights.
