Spoilers ahead. In the exhilarating last episode of “Game of Thrones,” there were hundreds if not thousands of soldiers of the Lannister army that were killed by a stream of fire from the sky after they were attacked by Drogon. Daenerys Targaryen’s favorite dragon rained down a scorching inferno on helpless Lannister soldiers including these poor fucks.

Many “GoT” fans wondered if the songbird Lannister soldier, Ed Sheeran, suffered a brutal death in the fiery defeat. Some viewers were rooting for Sheeran to have a premature death in the ambush since the Grammy-winning singer’s cameo was not well-received in Episode 1 of Season 7. Matt Shakman, the director of the “Spoils Of War” episode responded if Ed Sheeran suffered a death by dragon. Sheeran was in the woods of the Riverlands, but could his troop have been diverted to help protect the loot train to King’s Landing?

“I don’t think literally those soldiers were there,” Shakman told Mashable. So you’re saying there’s a chance? Plenty of Lannister troops got scorched, definitely plausible that one could be Ed Sheeran.

“I did not meet Ed Sheeran,” he said. “I think the earlier scene that was so great with Arya meeting those Lannister soldiers, where we humanize what those Lannisters are like, that they’re generous with her, only helps this sequence because it helps you feel for the men who are shaking in terror as their death is upon them.”

But it doesn’t sound like Ed Sheeran will be in any future “Game of Thrones” episodes, especially how much fans hated his unnecessary appearance that took away focus from the first episode of the penultimate season.
