Footage Of Insanely Powerful Hurricane Irma Hitting Saint Martin Is Absolutely Jaw Dropping

Hurricane Irma is a storm of unprecedented proportions. Hurricane Irma is already a Category-5 storm, the highest/most powerful classification a hurricane can receive, but beyond that, it’s also the most powerful hurricane to ever form in the Atlantic Ocean basin.

The storm made landfall last night hitting Barbuda and later Saint Martin. Footage has emerged of Hurricane Irma hitting Saint Martin.

As someone who was born and raised in Florida and who lives there now, this has me worrying about my entire life. And I don’t mean just my house, which I’m certainly worried about. Hurrican Irma has me terrified for my entire family who all live in Southwest Florida. Things like the Elementary School I went to decades ago that certainly wasn’t built to current hurricane safety standards. The beaches I grew up on in Siesta Key. Everything that makes my hometown ‘home’. If this storm maintains its strength, there’s a possibility that my entire world could be wiped out. Hurricane Irma is currently wider than the entire state of Florida and recent projections have it plowing right through the state, directly over my house. This is hard for me to wrap my mind around right now because we haven’t really dealt with anything of this magnitude since Hurricane Andrew.

The last time I checked, there are currently 3 planes flying routes through the hurricane around the clock to record data on this storm and give meteorologists everything the need to forecast the path and power of the most powerful hurricane ever formed in the Atlantic Ocean:

If you are in the Florida Keys, evacuate now. It’s a mandatory evacuation. Don’t be stupid. Don’t be a hero. If you are in Miami, consider going north as soon as you can. Some evacuations in Miami begin today. There’s plenty of time to get out in front of this storm. Don’t be stupid.
