Just when we’re about to give up all hope and think that the world is completely awful (it’s going meet its end in June anyway), we remember that people like Keanu Reeves live in it and our faith in humanity gets a nice little boost.

Whether he’s showing what a genuine person he is by his reactions to memes of him being “immortal” or doing something as simple as giving up his seat on the subway to someone who needs it, Reeves is a reminder that some people are just inherently good.

And now, now we find out that Keanu Reeves, who has given away a fair share of his massive fortune over the years, also has a private foundation that helps fun children’s hospitals and cancer research. Is this guy even real?

“I have a private foundation that’s been running for five or six years, and it helps aid a couple of children’s hospitals and cancer research,” Reeves revealed to Ladies Home Journal in an article published in 2009. “I don’t like to attach my name to it, I just let the foundation do what it does.”

According to The List

One of Reeves’ sisters was diagnosed with a type of leukemia in the ’90s, achieving remission later in that decade. He funds efforts to find treatments and cures for cancers without publicly taking credit for his efforts through his foundation.

Public efforts found him manning the phones at a Stand Up to Cancer telethon in 2008. Stars like Reeves generously gave their time and used their star power to encourage fans to become callers, donors and participants in the efforts to heal cancer. Cancer research is extremely expensive. ABC Anchor Charles Gibson pointed out, “In the long run there’s a public awareness responsibility here that may be more important than the money.”

What else would you expect from a guy who has given up chunks of his salary for movies like The Devil’s Advocate, The Replacements and The Matrix so the films could have better special effects, costumes and even hire other actors.

This is the same guy, after all, who once told Hello magazine, “Money is the last thing I think about. I could live on what I have already made for the next few centuries.”

Awesome.

You know what else about Keanu Reeves is awesome?

That’s right, John Wick, which reportedly just got a director, a villain and a start date for filming.

That Hashtag Show reports…

First of all, Chad Stahelski, who co-directed the first film before going solo on the second, is now officially on board for the third film. The film is expected to begin principal photography on March 1st in New York City with additional filming potentially taking place in Spain and Russia!

John Wick 3 will feature a few familiar faces with Cassian (Common) and the Bowery King (Laurence Fishburne) and Ares (Ruby Rose) set to return but the film is going to introduce some new faces as well, and we know who one of them will be. The film’s main antagonist, said to be the head of a Japanese crime syndicate, will be played Hiroyuki Sanada (The Wolverine, Avengers 4). John Wick 3 will represent a reunion for Reeves and Sanada as the pair starred together in the 2013 film 47 Ronin.

May 17, 2019 can’t get here soon enough.
