Kid Rock: ‘F— No, I’m Not Running For Senate. Are You F—ing Kidding Me?’

For those of you who were excited that Kid Rock was running for Senate, I’ve got some bad news for you. You may want to sit down and take off your “Kid Rock For U.S. Senate” t-shirt and trucker hat. On Tuesday morning, Kid Rock appeared on the Howard Stern Show and definitively announced that he is not running for a seat in the U.S. Senate. Kid Rock said to Stern, “Fuck no, I’m not running for Senate, are you fucking kidding me? Who couldn’t figure that out?”

So there goes that Keystone Light Pipeline. Kid Rock, whose real name is Robert Ritchie, said the idea to run for Senate was a mixed blessing. “It’s the worst advice I ever gave myself, but it’s been the most creative thing I’ve ever done,” he said. “And I’ve gotten to see everyone’s true colors.” Kid Rock as a U.S. Senator was a joke originally, but then he embraced the idea. “No, we’re not doing it,” he told his inner circle, “but let’s roll with it for a while.”

In July when he made his announcement, there were hints at the time that Kid Rock was not running, including him not filing the proper paperwork.

It turns out that the faux political campaign was a marketing tool for him to sell merchandise and promote his new album, “Sweet Southern Sugar,” will be released Nov. 3. A website titled “KidRockForSenate” sold merchandise for the Southern rocker’s supposed Senate run.

To his credit, in one poll he was beating his director competitor Deborah Ann Greer Stabenow, a Michigan Democratic Senator since 2001. Will Kid Rock’s departure from politics open up the door to Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson?
