Lil Wayne Hospitalized After He Was Found Unconscious Following Seizures

Lil Wayne was hospitalized this weekend after suffering seizures in Chicago. Wayne, whose real name is Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., was found unconscious in his hotel room at the Westin on Michigan Avenue after having multiple seizures and then rushed to Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Tunechi’s team attempted to have him discharged on late Sunday afternoon so the rapper could make his next show in Las Vegas, but doctors advised Carter remain in the hospital for the next few days. Wayne suffers from epilepsy and it has caused many seizures over the years including while flying. Doctors believed flying was a risky proposition and could spur more seizures and he wouldn’t have access to medical attention should the condition return. Weezy was supposed to perform at Drais Beachclub in Vegas on Sunday night, but it has been canceled.

“Lil Wayne and the entire Young Money / Maverick team are valued partners and members of the Drai’s LIVE family,” Drais Beachclub said in the Instagram post. “Our priority is the health and well-being of our artists. Everyone at Drai’s wishes Lil Wayne a speedy recovery during this time.”

Last June, Lil Wayne’s private jet was forced to make an emergency landing in Nebraska on its cross-country flight from Milwaukee to California. In March 2013, the 34-year-old rapper spent nearly a week in the intensive care unit after being put in a medically-induced coma. In October 2012, Wayne’s private jet needed to make an emergency landing for seizures.
