Shake Shack makes one of the best burgers around. It might not be the best burger in NYC because of the preponderance of steakhouses and other sick restaurants serving up the finest beef money can buy, but when it comes to fast-casual chain restaurant burgers you cannot top Shake Shack.

If you’ve ever wanted to capture lightning in a bottle and recreate a Shake Shack burger from the comfort of your own home then you’ve undoubtedly encountered some obstacles along the way. I think this is a testament to how good Shake Shack’s burger really is. Here, we see a tutorial on how to make this burger at home so that you can go forth into the world and try it out for yourself:

Mark Rosati is Shake Shack’s Culinary Director. He’s a pretty nice dude, too. I actually interviewed him two years ago at the South Beach Wine and Food Festival and he came off as a genuinely nice person whereas other chefs came off as completely rude ass hats even though we had interviews set up (*cough* Oringer *cough*).

It’s been pretty incredible to see Shake Shack’s success balloon in the time I lived in NYC. They went from one restaurant in Madison Square Park with an hour long line during the Summers to locations all over the world and a publicly traded company. That success is truly a testament to how good their burger is, it’s definitely not just hype.
