Martin Shkreli Is Selling His Wu-Tang Clan Album On eBay

Thanks to a combination of a shattered moral compass and an indescribably punchable face, Martin Shrekli has managed to become one of the most hateable people in the world over the past couple of years. Based on virtually all of his actions, it’s a title he seems intent on pursuing until he can claim it as his own.

Shrkeli was recently put on trial for a variety of charges stemming from alleged securities fraud, and if you need any more proof of just how much reviled he is, you don’t have to look much further than the transcripts from the jury selection process. There are a number of fantastic quotes contained within the documents, but it’s hard to top the juror who was dismissed because he felt Shkreli disrespected the Wu-Tang Clan.

The former pharmaceutical exec and the Clan have quite the history. Shrkeli purchased the one and only copy of the group’s album “Once Upon A Time In Shaolin” for $2 million in 2015 before eventually getting into a feud with Ghostface Killah, because nothing makes sense anymore and everything is broken.

Shrekli has previously played the album in the background of the live streams he seems so fond of, but the world hasn’t had the chance to hear the record in full. However, that could change now that he’s put the album up for sale on eBay.

He explained his reasoning for the sale in the item description, saying:

I decided to purchase this album as a gift to the Wu-Tang Clan for their tremendous musical output. Instead I received scorn from at least one of their (least-intelligent) members, and the world at large failed to see my purpose of putting a serious value behind music. I will be curious to see if the world values music nearly as much as I have. I have donated to many rock bands and rappers over the years to ensure they can continue to produce their art when few others would.

If you need another reason to hate him, Shrekli went on to admit that he hasn’t even listened to the album that closely. To his credit, he’s pledged to donate half of the money he makes from the sale to medical research, but considering he works in pharmaceuticals, that could just be another way of saying he’s going to invest it in himself.

At the time of this writing, the highest bid had reached almost $100,000.
