Compilation Shows How Hollywood Doesn’t Even Try To Hide Product Placements In Movies Anymore

Product Placement in movies

Most movies aren’t really entertainment anymore. At least not mainstream films. Most theatrical releases feel like one long commercial for toys, cars, and lifestyles with a plotline woven throughout.

Movies as commercials isn’t anything new but at least Hollywood did their damndest to hide the fact they were schilling Subway sandwiches and Crystal Pepsi. As this mashup from Fun With Guru proves, Hollywood is totally blatant about product placement now.

Watching that video over again, the product placements are so obvious, maybe that’s the point? Perhaps movie directors are forced to toss in mentions of Pepsi, Dunkin and iPods so they make it so damn obvious it’s almost uncomfortable for viewers…and advertisers?

Or I don’t know…maybe directors just stopped giving a damn.
