Women From The Marvel Cinematic Universe Got Together For One ‘Super’ Cool Photo

Women Marvel Cinematic Universe Photo

Marvel

Quick… tell me why not only has there not been a Black Widow movie starring Scarlett Johansson, there has never even been a sliver of a hint that Marvel might actually make it happen?

I mean, Wonder Woman was a huge hit, and that was a DC movie for God’s sake. Plus, it’s not like Johansson hasn’t shown that she can carry a movie as the sole lead (Ghost in the Shell, Lucy, Under the Skin).

My point is, there are a lot of women in the Marvel Cinematic Universe who could definitely star in their own movie. For example, take this photo snapped by writer and producer Craig Kyle…

Here’s a cleaner copy…

For those of you scoring at home (and if you are, congrats), that’s Gamora (Zoe Saldana, Guardians of the Galaxy), Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson, Thor: Ragnarok), Captain Marvel (Brie Larson, who DOES actually get her own movie: Captain Marvel), Black Widow (Scarlet Johansson, The Avengers), Okoye (Danai Gurira, Black Panther), Nebula (Karen Gillan, Guardians of the Galaxy), Wasp (Evangeline Lilly, Ant-Man and the Wasp), and Mantis (Pom Klementieff, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2).

Toss in these other women in the MCU that io9 listed and well, heck, you might just have yourself a movie or two…

Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen, Age of Ultron); Nakia, Ramonda, and Shuri (Lupita Nyong’o, Angela Bassett and Letitia Wright, Black Panther); Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders, The Avengers); Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow, Iron Man); Sharon Carter (Emily VanCamp, Winter Soldier); Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell, The First Avenger); Betty Ross (Liv Tyler, Incredible Hulk); and Jane Foster (Natalie Portman, Thor), and you could also add Jaimie Alexander from Thor.

Sigh… some day maybe, huh?

Anyway, the reason for this rare photo opp is because Vanity Fair just published a giant piece on the MCU and the upcoming Infinity War movie. Which, of course, meant they took a lot of really cool pictures.

Marvel also just released a new poster for Infinity War as well. Amazing timing!!

Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters May 4, 2018.
