These Are The 10 Highest Paid TV Actresses In 2016 And I’ve Never In My Life Heard Of #7 And #8

As they do each year, Forbes has just released their list of the ’10 Highest Paid Actresses On TV’, and this year’s list is topped by Sofia Vergara once again. In 2016, Sofia Vergara’s expected to rake in $43 million for time spent in front of the camera.

After conferring with my colleagues they’ve assured me that I have in fact heard of #8 on Forbes’ list, which I guess is true, but I remember her as a beauty pageant winner and definitely not as an actress. As for #7, I’ve never heard her name until today nor have I ever seen an episode of the show she allegedly stars in:

1. Sofia Vergara – $43 million
2. Kaley Cuoco – $24.5 million
3. Mindy Kaling – $15 million
4. Mariska Hargitay – $14.5 million
5. Ellen Pompeo – $14.5 million
6. Kerry Washington – $13.5 million
7. Stana Katic – $12 million
8. Priyanka Chopra – $11 million
9. Julianna Margulies – $10.5 million
10. Julie Bowen – $10 million

According to Forbes, the reason Sofia Vergara is raking in the cash in 2016 isn’t for her role on Modern Family, it’s actually from some crazy lucrative endorsement deals:

Ironically, it’s not her role as Gloria Delgado-Pritchett that is responsible for her 66% earnings bump over last year. Rather it’s endorsement and licensing deals–for products including a line of furniture, dandruff shampoo Head and Shoulders and even nurse scrubs–that have proven the most fruitful.

When I think of Sofia Vergara I most certainly don’t think about dandruff shampoo, which I’m not sure is a good thing if some dandruff shampoo company is paying her millions to promote their product.

As for #8 on the list, Priyanka Chopra. This is her first time appearing on Forbes’ ‘Highest Paid Actresses’ list, and the 2000 Miss World Pageant winner is now getting crazy rich off appearing in Quantico, a show I’ve still yet to watch.

#7 on the list is the name I’ve never even heard before, Stana Katic. She’s an actress on Castle which is now in its final season. Apparently, the reason she’s getting paid so much now is because her agent got her some back-end % on the show’s syndication rights which is just now kicking in, similar to how Larry David once became one of the highest paid men in TV overnight. I hear great things about Castle, it’s actually a show I’ve wanted to get into for a while now, but I’m waiting fo rall of the seasons to be on Netflix so I can power through them in one long binge.
