Ben Affleck Reveals He Has Completed Treatment For Alcohol Addiction In Candid Facebook Post

Ben Affleck revealed on Tuesday that he has completed treatment for ‘alcohol addiction,’ an illness he first sought treatment for back in 2001. The news came a couple months after Warner Bros. announced back in January that Affleck was stepping down from his directorial role of ‘Batman,’ because the role “demands focus, passion and the very best performance I can give.”

Affleck will still produce and star in the film, but admitted, “It has become clear that I cannot do both jobs to the level they require.”

The 44-year-old actor posted a candid Facebook message revealing he has completed his treatment.

I had no idea the dude was struggling with alcohol addition. I guess this gigantic screaming phoenix back tattoo should have been an indicator. Color tattoos are typically a sign there’s something wrong.

Good on Ben for manning up and admitting something deeply personal. I am with you. Because I am you.

The anti-drug people gave him a $50 savings bond for his brave contribution to crime-fighting, and upon the bond’s maturity 10 years later, he used it to buy his very first bag of marijuana.
