Netflix’s original programming has turned it into the king of the streaming world, and if we’re being honest here, increasingly the king of the entertainment world, period. But there’s only so many times you can watch Frank Underwood lay the smackdown on some poor chump, or Jessica Jones snark her way into your heart. We need more.

Thankfully, Netflix’s growth has led to an acceleration in their original programming, so there should always be something cool to watch, whether it’s an eagerly anticipated new entry in the Marvel lineup, or something you can discover, like the next Narcos.

Out of all the new original shows and movies set to be released by Netflix sometime in the future, here are nine that every bro should be excited to watch.

‘Ozark’

Release Date: 2017
A quick synopsis: Jason Bateman plays a dude who flees the big city for the Ozarks, and has to come up with a way to pay off a Mexican drug lord as he finds himself caught in the seedy world of drug money laundering.

That’s it. That’s all we’ve got to go on, but that sounds intriguing enough to get my interest. Then again, I’m a sucker for Jason Bateman and anything with the word “drugs” in it.

‘Mascots’

Release Date: 2016
One of only two original movies on this list, it makes it for good reason: it’s Christopher Guest’s newest mockumentary. If you’re already a fan, then you know what’s coming and you’re already excited reading this. If not, I don’t know what your problem is, you fucking philistine, but you will watch this and you will like it. Oh, it’s technically a mockumentary about the world of mascots, but really, it could be about anything and it will still be funny.

‘Altered Carbon’

Release Date: To be announced.
There’s regular vaguely cheesy sci-fi, and then there’s sci-fi with an edge, that Philip K. Dick style that is more a noirish detective story hiding in a cool sci-fi world. Yeah, Altered Carbon falls into that category, so you don’t have to be a nerd to love it. I mean, that style was good enough for Harrison Ford so it should be good enough for you.

The series is actually based on an award-winning novel, so you already know the quality should be there. Set 500 years in the future, people are living forever, yet murder abounds and no one knows what in the fuck is going on. Well, other than a hardboiled detective. Naturally.

‘Marvel’s Luke Cage’

Release Date: September 30, 2016

We’re starting off hot here with one of Netflix/Marvel’s most eagerly awaited new shows. For those of you who don’t know, Luke Cage is basically a huge badass, a much beloved comic book character who could end up being everyone’s favorite in this branch of the Marvel universe. He’s all set to be spun-off from Jessica Jones, which just hammers home how interconnected all these Marvel series are, which just adds to the anticipation. More on that later…

‘Maniac’

Release Date: To be announced.
Maniac is a dark-comedy, based on a Norwegian series about a dude living the life of his dreams. One problem: he’s actually in a mental institution. Oh yeah, the show stars Jonah Hill and Emma Stone, who already have that Superbad chemistry going on, and the show’s creator is Cary Fukunaga, the dude who directed the entire first season of True Detective (aka the good season) and who many credit with being the actual mastermind of that series’ initial insanity/genius, so… yeah, lots of reasons to be excited about this one, bros.

‘Marvel’s Iron Fist’

Release Date: To be announced.
The fourth series in the Netflix/Marvel marriage made in heaven, and do you really need more info than that to know that you’re gonna want to watch it? Well, just in case you’re not convinced: this one has kung-fu. It’s almost as if Marvel is building to something special, something big…

‘War Machine’

Release Date: 2016
The other movie on this list, War Machine belongs for good reason. It’s listed as a war/comedy movie based on the non-fiction book, The Operators, which is about the war in Afghanistan, and more specifically, the people involved in running it, led by General Stanley McChrystal. And who will be playing our general? None other than Brad Pitt, who leads a badass cast that includes Ben freaking Kingsley, so… yeah, Netflix isn’t playing around. This will undoubtedly be their highest profile original movie to date and should signal a further evolution for Netflix from streaming service to all-around entertainment juggernaut. Oh, and the movie should be fucking awesome.

‘3%’

Release Date: 2016
Let’s get this out of the way: 3% is a Brazilian series entirely in Portuguese. Before you dismiss it, though, remember that Narcos was mostly in Spanish and look how that turned out.

3% is a futuristic thriller about a world devastated by, well… by look around you, bros. But there’s a catch. This fucked-up world contains a “better side”, a side that everyone wants to get to, but only 3% of the population manages to succeed.

Look, this could be a total piece of shit, but it could also be one of those hidden gems that make Netflix so much fun. I’m gonna go ahead and predict that it will be the latter based on nothing more than the premise and my own intuition, which is, of course, flawless.

‘Marvel’s The Defenders’

Release Date: To be announced.
And here it is, the culmination of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. Basically, it’s this branch of the Marvel Universe’s version of The Avengers, only each hero gets a whole series to develop depth and a fanbase, and the end result won’t be a movie, but a whole miniseries of awesomeness.

Do I really have to explain why you should be excited for this? This is Netflix’s crown jewel, and it’s why Netflix is poised to surpass not just other streaming services, but most Hollywood studios and networks. And it’s also why you should be excited, because as cool as the present is for Netflix, the future looks even more entertaining.
