Carrie Fisher Accidentally Let Slip A Pretty Big Spoiler About ‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’

During a panel at the Star Wars Celebration in London Carrie Fisher let slip a pretty big spoiler about Star Wars: Episode VIII. (Yes, that is her dog Gary on stage with her. He’s a good doggy.)

When Fisher was asked a question by actor Warwick Davis, who played an Ewok named Wicket in Return of the Jedi, she either misunderstood the question or had a total brain fart.

Davis asked, “What do you know of the period between the end of Return of the Jedi and the beginning of The Force Awakens?”

Fisher replied, “Han’s funeral.” Whoops.

Quickly trying to do damage control, Fisher then added, “The old one, oh. Han and I have a very volatile relationship obviously, which leads to space divorce. No, I don’t think we are divorced, we’re just estranged.”

So does this mean that Han Solo’s funeral will not be in Stars Wars: Episode VIII? If so, that’s kind of a bummer. Perhaps she misheard the question and that’s what she has been doing since The Force Awakens. Either way, I am pretty sure she wasn’t supposed to mention it.

She then quickly changed the subject slightly to discussing Leia and Han Solo’s relationship.

“We had a very volatile relationship, which leads to space divorce as you know,” said Fisher. “Or space estrangement, at least. We had a child who turned out to be Hitler, and you’d feel bad too if your son had done all that, wouldn’t you? I did spank Adam [Driver] when I first met him, so that felt good.”
