Colin Quinn Called Tina Fey The ‘C-Word’ Once At SNL But It Was Something Else That Made Him ‘Dead To Her’

The world of comedy isn’t particularly nice to women. Even though ladies continue to dominate the comedy landscape — Amy Schumer and the ladies of Broad City to name just a few — it’s still a boy club. A club where boys often act like children.

Tiny Fey recalled a moment in her SNL tenure when then Weekend Update host called her up just to call her the c-word. No, not corny or chubby or Cheri Oteri. He called her a cunt. She didn’t really even know what brought it on.

Fey told Howard Stern today…

“I love him so much. I was trying to help him with a show that he was working on, and I think his anxiety about the writing of the show spilled over. It was very random. I was like, ‘What?!’ He left me a message and he said that. I couldn’t even guess why. Usually, if someone calls you that, you’re like, ‘I know what I did.'”

The issue was never really resolved and both talented comics went on to different projects. Fey started writing and starring in 30 Rock and tried to smooth things over — even though she was the one who should have been angry — by offering Quinn parts on three different episodes. The comic declined. This didn’t bother Fey as much as something else Quinn did that totally pissed off the Bossy Pants author.

I asked Colin to be on 30 Rock like three times after that, and he turned us down every time. I saw him on Girls and was like, ‘He’s dead to me.'”

The two have since patched things up.
