With the ‘Deadpool‘ movie having surpassed $300 million in worldwide ticket sales thus far, it comes as no surprise 20th Century Fox is on the maddened prowl to get production/development moving for ‘Deadpool 2.’The two screenwriters, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick of ‘Deadpool’ are both confirmed for ‘Deadpool 2.’ Werner’s already released a statement that will put to rest any those folks out there that might think the sequel will be an overfunded, special effects-addled cinematic crazy show, saying:
“We don’t want $150 million to go make the next movie, that’s not Deadpool. Deadpool doesn’t lift cities up into the air or battle aliens coming down to earth, that’s just not Deadpool. So we’re happy in that little small budget range that they have us in; we don’t wanna blow this next one out.”
I don’t know about you, but I couldn’t agree more. Throw an obscene amount of money in the making of any movie, and you’re going to note some vast wasting of resources. A while ago Reynolds even joked saying that for the making of ‘Deadpool,’ they had most superhero movies’ cocaine budgets. Obviously that worked out for the best, and I doubt an extra intergalactic dick-measuring contest square off between a couple CGI armies would really elevate the quality of a genuinely kickass comic book storyline.
