This Is The Hellish Diet And Gym Routine That Matt Damon Went Through To Get Ripped For His Role In ‘Jason Bourne’

It’s no secret that celebrities have it easy when it comes to getting in shape – from Chris Hemsworth getting ripped for the Thor franchise, to JK Simmons looking absolutely shredded in preparation for his role in Justice League, all it takes is a few million dollars, a personal trainer to kick your ass every day and the fact that your job literally depends on you not shoveling cake down your gullet every day for someone to stay motivated enough to get into tip-top peak physical shape.

The same applies to Matt Damon and his role in the upcoming Jason Bourne film. The fifth entry into the franchise sees its leading actor finally getting to the point where he’s starting to push 50 (Damon is technically 45, but that’s old enough to be considered “pushing 50” in my book), something that filmmaker Paul Greengrass and Damon wanted to use to their advantage. Addressing the 10 year plot gap between films in an interview with The Guardian, Greengrass stated “Look, if we open the film and in the first frame of Jason Bourne we see your face and you look like you’ve lived well these past 10 years, we do not have a movie. You have to look like you’ve suffered. And the only way to do that is to suffer.”

And suffer he did, as Damon reportedly spent 10 weeks having two 90-minute high-intensity gym session every day and was only allowed to eat vegetables and protein for “months on end.” No potato chips, no pizza, no candies or sweets or ice cream – just veg and protein, forever and ever.

Judging from the trailer, it looks like Damon’s work paid off – Jason Bourne not only looks beat down, but is ripped to shit:
