Two days in, Live Mean Tweet week has been kind of lackluster. With the exception of Benedict Cumberbatch burn on night one, all five of the other supposed mean tweets have been pitiful. These things are supposed to be mean for Christ’s sakes. Telling Bette Midler that she has the biggest penis in hollywood isn’t funny. It’s lazy. But I understand it’s probably difficult to find actual tweets that are mean but also usable on TV.
Last night’s live mean tweet readers included Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Bette Midler and Liam Neeson. They all sucked. Well, the tweets all sucked, the celebrities really couldn’t control that. However, Dwayne Johnson, in typical Dwayne Johnson fashion, saved his shitty mean tweet and got pretty much the only genuine laugh out of the audience during the entire segment.
