‘Game Of Thrones’ Might Be Set To Revive Another Pivotal Character Who We All Thought Was Dead

*It goes without saying that this post may include spoilers for the current season of Game of Thrones, based on information gathered from George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire books.*

You’ve been warned!

Okay then. This season of Game Of Thrones has already seen several characters thought dead make their return to the screen. Namely, of course we’re talking about Jon Snow, and now, as witnessed in last week’s episode, The Hound aka Sandor Clegane is not nearly as dead as we thought he was.

Presumed left to die when Arya Stark parted ways with him in season four, The Hound made his return to the show in episode seven to settle at a camp with some religious folk and start a new life. Unfortunately, as we all know, the entire camp save The Hound was soon murdered following an earlier confrontation with men on horseback who announced they were representing the Brotherhood Without Banners.

Only the result of the attack was shown as the episode neared its end, but we know now that one of the three men who originally confronted the settlement camp where The Hound was staying is “Lem Lemoncloack” – a prominent character in the books. This has even been confirmed by the actor who plays him.

Now, this is where things get interesting.

If you’ve read the books, you know that Lemoncloack is a member of the Brotherhood Without Banners even after Lady Stoneheart takes over command of their cavalry.

And here’s the thing…Lady Stoneheart, in the books, is actually the brought-back-to-life corpse of…Catelyn Stark.

Yes, the very same Catelyn Stark who had her throat slit during the Red Wedding when her eldest son Robb and his wife were murdered as well at the hands of Walder Frey and Roose Bolton.

So, could this all be setting up the return of a vengeance-seeking Lady Stark to the show? Is there some hearty revenge coming the way of the Lannisters? We haven’t seen the Brotherhood Without Banners since the third season of the show, so now seems like an apt time if there ever was one to bring them back into the fold, Lady Stoneheart in tow.

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see, but the theory certainly isn’t one to rule out…
