It might seem ridiculous in the age of streaming, but there was a time long, long ago when people paid for a thing called “cable” which featured channels that dictated what you watched as opposed to the other way around. It might sound crazy, but this was actually considered normal by society’s standards at one point in time.
With cable, it was easy to get sucked into something you had no intention of watching when you turned on your TV. If you’ve ever accidentally watched seven episodes of “Cops,” you know exactly what we’re talking about. However, it wasn’t just television shows that were capable of pulling you in.
There were a number of movies that seemingly cast a spell over the viewer that made them sit on the sofa for three hours with no chance of escape.
