As they do every year, Forbes has released their annual rankings of the ‘Highest Paid Celebrities in the World’, and this year’s list is topped by none other than Taylor Swift, arguably the most recognizable celebrity in the world. The 2016 Highest Paid Celebrities list is a real who’s who of earning power, spanning across athletes, actors, singers, and TV personalities it combines all famous people into one large group. Which is why I find it strange that I had to Google who the #3 person on the list is.
The #2 highest paid ‘celebrities’ is actually One Direction (kind of a cop out since it’s a group and not a person), but that makes sense, and #4 is Dr. Phil McGraw and I can totally understand that, but I’d never even heard #3’s name until now. Anyways, here are the 30 highest paid celebrities in the world for 2016, in reverse order, via Forbes:

Sooooo Taylor Swift made $170 million this year. She brought in DOUBLE what the #7 highest paid celebrity in the world in 2016. It’s just blowing my mind that she has that much earning power. Like, I get it, she’s everywhere, she dominates everything, but HOLY SHIT that’s a lot of money for one singer to make in a single year. Also, how much do you think it pisses LeBron off that he didn’t crack the Top 10? He’s sitting right there on the edge, so close, but he’s not Top 10 (and two other athletes are).

Now, for the #3 ‘celebrity’ on the list, author James Patterson. According to his Wiki page he’s best known for his fictional novels about ‘Alex Cross’, and I still don’t have a flying fuck who that is. Apparently he holds the Guinness World Record for being the first author to sell over 1 million e-books, and again I still don’t have a fucking clue who he is. I asked the person sitting next to me and they knew of him, but that person also read over 100 books in 2016, and they’re a complete bibliophile, so it’s not really fair. I spend all day reading articles on the web to find content for you bros, and haven’t had many chances to read books over the past several years. In my downtime I mostly read long form articles, and somehow I’ve managed to miss out on the man whose books ‘went viral’.
Am I just living in a bubble here? Does everyone else know who this man is?
