The wolfpack and its hangers-on—Stu, Alan, Phil, Doug, Mr. Chow, Mike Tyson—are all back. Melissa McCarthy also makes at least a cameo, based on a hilarious seven-second exchange between her character and Alan. And John Goodman is signed on too, for an unknown role. The plot looks to veer from the formula of the first two films. There's no wedding or bachelor party—just the guys taking a road trip to Vegas after rescuing Alan from a mental hospital.
This trailer is really funny. You kind of want to make snap judgement here and think this sequel could be a return to the form of the first film. But then again, I remember laughing my ass off at “Part II's” preview and then HATING that cash grab.
So I'm cautiously optimistic. On the one hand, “The Hangover” is one of the best comedies of the last decade, and it's not fair to start comparing this flick to it. On the other…. This trailer made me laugh. A lot. I'll be there on Memorial Day.
