The Aliens Have Returned In ‘Independence Day: Resurgence’–Who’s Going To Save The Planet?

This past Sunday, Fox snuck in a teaser trailer for Independence Day: Resurgence during its football programming and it set the internet aflame. Its been twenty years since those stubborn extraterrestrial bastards reared their ugly heads, but they are set to make an encore against Jeff Goldblum and a newly casted Liam Hemsworth.

The film will be void of Will Smith whose character Col. Steven Hiller just up and died on all of us in a fiery explosion during a training exercise in 2007. Weak sauce, Hiller. Weak sauce. But, RIP, Hiller. RIP.

As it’s been almost two decades since the first iconic film was released so we look the liberty of providing you with a little Sparknotes recap, as well as a little speculation on what’s to come.

The anti-drug people gave him a $50 savings bond for his brave contribution to crime-fighting, and upon the bond’s maturity 10 years later, he used it to buy his very first bag of marijuana.
