Earlier, we wrote about former Park & Rec swagger guru Aziz Ansari starring in Kanye West’s new music video for “Famous” while filming Master of None in Italy. Now, we have his character Tom Haverford’s fugged-up friend on the show, Jean-Ralphio Saperstein, voicing the droid BB-8 from Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
The man behind the Co-creator of Entertainment 720 and Salesman at Lady Foot Locker, Ben Schwartz, actually served as a voice consultant on Episode VII along with Saturday Night Live‘s Bill Hader, which sounds (haha) like a complete joke, but it’s apparently legit.
Here’s the original cut of Jean-Ralphio bringing BB-8 to life from Tumblr:
And here are the four installments via Twitter:
Hader and Schwartz, two of the funniest dues in the game, serving as voice consultants for a droid that only beeps and boops has got to be the weirdest and most flagrant abuse of a movie budget I’ve ever seen. I’m not hating, I’m just impressed.
If you haven’t watched Parks & Rec, it’s worth a week of your life for Ron Swanson alone. Jean-Ralphio’s just icing on the comedy cake. It’s hard to pass up on a program that features “one of the funniest recurring characters on TV“.
“Ain’t nobody got time for that!”? Okay, you just want more Jean-Ralphio. Well, if you can withstand awful aspect ratios – here’s a highlight reel of his best moments:
