Last week, we told you the Washington Redskins attempted to defend the trademark protection of their racist name by saying “Hey other people are shitty, so what’s wrong if we are, too?”
The team stated in a court filing that because companies like “Shank the B@tch” board game and “Slutseeker” dating service have trademark protection, and because some people could construe those names as offensive, the Redskins, a name many consider offensive, should not lose their federal trademark.
Boy did John Oliver have fun with that logic. Oh, boy, did he have fun.
