Just Like Every Guy Ever, Adam Driver Has Never Watched HBO’s ‘Girls’

Love it or hate it, a lot of millennial yuppie douchefucks think Lena Dunham’s Girls is “the show of our generation.” I’m hit or miss with it; As a New Yorker, I think the storylines about white, 20-something entitlement in gentrified NYC are obnoxious as fuck. Yet I really like the quirks and charm of many of the characters, like Shoshanna (the most basic bitch to ever basic bitch… even QUEEN basic bitch Taylor Swift has admitted this) and Marnie, who’s life choices are so questionable they make your best friend from college look like a goddamn genius.

Adam Driver, the actor who plays Adam, the show’s only compelling male character (IMO! Ray suxs), has a pretty bold confession: Even though they’re going into their fourth season, he’s never watched a single episode of Girls. Driver is a hella talented actor who just landed a role in J.J. Abrams’ upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII. So Lena made maybe the most obnoxiously Lena Dunham bet ever:

“Now I’m going to have to watch—to understand,” Dunham said. “Adam’s never watched Girls so we made a deal I would watch Star Wars if he watched Girls. We can commune about it like a book club.”

Well, I caught up with Driver on Monday at the premiere of his new movie This is Where I Leave You (in theaters on Friday) and asked if he’s going to go through with the deal.

“I don’t think so,” he said with a smile.

Then he said he still has to make good on a bet he lost to Girls executive producer Jenni Konner to watch the show.

Driver said, “I’m trying to delay that as much as possible.”

Sorry not even the actors on your own show want to watch it, kid.
