Marty From ‘True Detective’ Season 1 Is Absolutely Disgusted By Season 2

Do you miss the days of Rust preaching his nihilistic existentialism to Marty’s deaf ears as they drove around Louisiana searching for the Yellow King? Yea me too. Season 2 of True Detective has not lived up to the immense expectations set by the fantastic first season. As the crime drama limps to it’s last two episodes like a dying cow, this hilarious parody is the compressed air gun that puts it out of it’s misery.

Marty Hart needs a hearty swig of liquor to help him watch the beleaguered second season of True Detective. YouTube user FlimFlam perfectly mashes up both seasons to illustrate just how disappointed the latter installment has been. Even the weathered Rust Cohle can’t bare to witness the beloved show turn to shit.

Despite the public seemingly underwhelmed by the second installment, HBO’s president Michael Lombardo is a fan. On Thursday during the Television Critics Association Press Tour, Lombardo defended the show and it’s writer Nic Pizzolatto.

“I think Nic Pizzolatto is one of the most talented writers working in TV and motion pictures today. I think he takes a big swing and all I can tell you is that I think the this [season’s] end is as satisfying as any show I’ve seen. Much like all of our shows, I didn’t believe this season, or last season, was intended for as big of an audience as we’re getting. We’re getting 12 million viewers an episode. I’m enormously proud of it. If [Nic] wanted to do another season, I told him our door is open. I’d love to do another season with him. I think he’s a spectacular writer.”

Let’s drink to True Detective being great again in Season 3.
