Musician Starts Internet Beef With Clickhole Over Being Quoted In A Story, Eventually Realizes What Clickhole Is

One of my favorite online articles of the past few years was this collection of people who thought Onion articles were real. It might be time to start collecting the times people were fooled by Clickhole.

ClickHole recently included musician St. Vincent in their recurring series “They Said What.” The basic idea of the featured are to make up odd quotes from celebrities. Clickhole included the popular songwriter in their latest installment.

Here’s the “quote”…

“Is a single shoelace any good for playing tug of war? No. Can it be a decent leash for a mouse? You bet. How about for tying a cruise liner to a dock? Of course not. Will it keep your cleats on your feet? That’s a no-brainer. Don’t even get me started on all the things two shoelaces can and can’t do.”

In response, St. Vincent took to Twitter to set the record straight that she never said such a thing.

A couple of minutes, and probably a few thousand “you’re a moron!” replies from followers later, and St. Vincent was finally in on the joke.

She never did disagree with the statement though. Shoelaces are amazing.
