The epic Planet Earth II miniseries came to a close last night with Sir David Attenborough delivering a sign off from the top of London’s Shard building, imploring every person alive to do everything they can to ensure a healthy planet for generations to come. It’s certainly a powerful moment, and one that sent many Twitter users into a frenzy (also, the turtle clip below from the Planet Earth II finale was straight insanity!). Here’s Sir David Attenborough’s sign off:
Frankly, I don’t see that as any more powerful of a message than anything other conservationists are saying, but Twitter disagrees with me. Twitter lost its damn mind:
That was the most poignant bit of tv I've seen in a long while. The piece Sir David delivered to camera made me weep.

#PlanetEarth found myself weeping at this episode. Sobering viewing and such a powerful message from Sir David Attenborough

May the message Sir David Attenborough said in the last episode of #PlanetEarth be loud and clear to everybody. We are but one planet.

Just a bunch of hippies losing it over an old man on a building…am I right?!?!?…./s
By the way, the most heart-breaking segment and the most talked about one from the Planet Earth 2 finale was the Hawksbill baby turtle moment. The BBC/Planet Earth producers have since released a story about how they did intervene in the case of these baby turtles, and to learn more about that you can click here.
