Ricky Gervais And Stephen Colbert Debate The Existence Of God, Butt Heads

Talking about God with other people is a complicated endeavor. One that you should definitely avoid unless you’re 100% certain that you’re surrounded by like-minded people. Because no matter what you believe, you can’t possibly offer enough proof to change the other person’s opinion of God’s existence. Truth is, there is no real way of knowing if God truly exists. Not even so-called miracles or ACTS OF GOD prove there is a higher power. They just prove that shit happens. All any of us really have is what we do, or do not, believe. And for some people (like Stephen Colbert), the belief that God is out there is enough “proof” for them. For others (like Ricky Gervais), it’s not.

Last night, the two sides debated the existence of God and, like all debates on the existence of God, it was more or less a waste of everyone’s breath. No opinions were changed. No lives were altered. No God came down from the sky to say, “Hey, Motherfuckers, I do exist. Now shut the fuck up and be funny.” None of that happened. But man, it would have been cool if it did.
