SNL Hilariously Imagines A Geriatric Star Wars Cast With James Franco As Elderly Jedi In ‘Force Awakens’ Spoof

The internet has been quite busy over the past week churning out parodies of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens that included Legos, Disney and Spaceballs. Now the professionals have joined in the fun with Saturday Night Live imagining what the original cast would look like in the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer.

The Force Awakens is set approximately 30 years after the events of Return of the Jedi and Saturday Night Live did not want to exclude the original stars from the the latest installment of the epic franchise. Beloved Star Wars characters including Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo, Lando Calrissian and Chewbacca were added to the new movie and the results were funny, yet sad.

Actress Carrie Fisher’s Princess Leia character, played Bobby Moynihan, is now wearing reading glasses and has difficulty resetting the clock on her R2-D2. We find Han Solo in his familiar intergalactic bar setting, but he is hard-of-hearing, appears to have an early onset of Alzheimer’s disease and has drastically toned down his flying of the Millennium Falcon. Solo’s right-hand wookiee, Chewbacca, wears a surgery cone. Kenan Thompson portrays Lando Calrissian as a senior citizen in Cloud City who gets scolded by his wife for not fixing the dishwasher droid. And Luke Skywalker, played by James Franco, has a thyroid problem and a lightsaber walker, which might be an improvement over the new lightsaber.

Sad to say, but yes, even Jedis get old, except Yoda.
