For 12 straight episodes, Saturday Night Live has opened each of its shows this season focused on President Donald J. Trump or the election. Last night’s episode was no exception, but instead of the usual impression of the 45th President of the United States by Alec Baldwin, it was Vladimir Putin played by Beck Bennett who performed the cold open.
A day after President Trump was sworn into office at his inauguration, SNL had a shirtless Putin celebrate and criticize Trump’s first two days as POTUS.
“Yesterday, we all made Donald Trump the 45th president of the United States,” Putin states. “Hooray, we did it!”
The President of the Russian Federation tried to calm the fears of Americans who are worried and even terrified of a Trump administration.
“Don’t worry, it’s not. Relax, I’ve got this. Pootie is going to make everything OK.”
Putin went on to make fun of Trump’s inauguration crowds, his inauguration speech, and Kellyanne Conway‘s inauguration ensemble.
