The First Trailer For Oliver Stone’s ‘Snowden’ Has Arrived, And It Looks Compelling As Hell

First observation here: how amazing is it that Edward Snowden apparently had his big epiphany/revelation/whatever you want to call it about mass surveillance while he was doing the dirty with his girlfriend??? Too good to be true, but since this is supposedly the true account of how the whole Snowden saga went down, it must be, right?

Second observation: if you make a film and cast Joseph Gordon-Levitt AND Nic Cage, I’m 100% going to see it. It could be the dramatic retelling of the first McDonald’s grand opening, and I’d still watch it. Not to mention, but freakin’ Oliver Stone at the directing helm!? Same dude who brought us Platoon, Wall Street, JFK, and other Academy Award winners/contenders. Boom. Sign me up.

Third observation: all bullshit aside, this actually looks like a pretty decent film. It’s unequivocally supposed to be the true story of how Edward Snowden infiltrated the NSA and got away with it, and you know if Oliver Stone is the one telling it, it’s going to be on point. JGL’s Snowden voice is crazy good, too, if you’ve ever watched any interviews with the real one.

Here’s the film’s description:

…the most important and fascinating true story of the 21st century. Snowden, the politically-charged, pulse-pounding thriller starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Shailene Woodley, reveals the incredible untold personal story of Edward Snowden, the polarizing figure who exposed shocking illegal surveillance activities by the NSA and became one of the most wanted men in the world. He is considered a hero by some, and a traitor by others. No matter which you believe, the epic story of why he did it, who he left behind, and how he pulled it off makes for one of the most compelling films of the year.

Excited for this one, bros.
