Sophie Turner, Sansa Stark On ‘Game Of Thrones’, Gave A Cryptic Interview About The Upcoming Season

Sophie Turner plays Sansa Stark on HBO’s Game of Thrones. Playing the eldest living Stark woman on what is debatably the biggest TV franchise currently in production, Sophie Turner gets pulled in every direction during interviews.

Fans and interviewers alike are constantly trying to get her and the other Game of Thrones cast members to slip up and divulge spoilers or give any indication of how the show will wrap up over the final two seasons. For the most part, the GoT cast is really good at keeping spoilers under wraps and the major leaks> come from elsewhere, but that doesn’t stop the show’s core cast from dropping hints.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Sophie Turner gave some very cryptic answers on the state of her character at the moment and where Sansa Stark will go throughout the upcoming Season 7:

She’s seemingly in control for the first time – and it really suits her,” Turner says. “She’s kind of having a bit of a power trip. But she’s also becoming more insecure, because there are threats to the power that she holds.”

Overall, the seven-episode penultimate season feels like the Emmy-winning drama is “ramping up” for the 2018’s presumed final season, she adds.

“What overall excites me about this season is that main characters are coming together and it feels like things are ramping up,” says the X-Men: Apocalypse star. “It’s really exciting and all feels like it’s coming to a big conclusion.”

I’ve never thought that being ‘in control’ is a role that really suits Sansa. In both the books and TV show she’s been the most co-dependent main character in the series (tertiary characters have been more dependent, her cousin Robin and Brienne’s squire Podrick come to mind). Sansa wouldn’t have survived a day in Westeros on her own and I can’t imagine what it’ll be like to see her in a power role for the first time.
