‘Star Wars’ Characters Sing The Best Song Ever Released On May 4th

By 05.04.17

1999 was a banner year for music. The Red Hot Chili Peppers dropped ‘Scar Tissue’, William Smith released ‘Wild Wild West’, LFO unleashed ‘Summer Girls’ on the world, and Limp Bizkit’s ‘Nookie’ dominated the radio for months. However, there’s one song from 1999 that reigned supreme, and that song is ‘All Star’ by Smash Mouth.

Today is ‘Star Wars Day’, May the 4th, as in ‘may the force be with you’. If you’re like me then you’re already tired of seeing Star Wars content flooding your Twitter and Instagram feeds this morning, but I do enjoy the Star Wars franchise immensely so I can’t really hate on fellow fans for showing their appreciation.

Coincidentally, ‘All Star’ by Smash Mouth was RELEASED ON MAY 4TH back in 1999, so not only is this a tribute to Star Wars, it’s also a nod to the day when Smash Mouth released their infamous song.

We’ve been seen countless versions of ‘All Star’ pop up over the past few years. By now, I’m certain there’s a lengthy entry on this song over at KnowYourMeme. It’s almost usurped Rick Astley’s ‘Never Give You Up’ as the de facto trolling song on the Internet, and there’s no end in sight.
