You’ll Have One Chance To See ‘Starship Troopers’ Animated Sequel ‘Traitor of Mars’ In Theaters

The big bugs are back! The animated sequel to the 1997 satirical sci-fi cult flick directed by Paul Verhoeven debuts this summer BUT you’ll only have one chance to check it out in theaters. The animated sequel is titled “Starship Troopers: Traitor of Mars” and it will be in theaters for one day only before going digital.

The newest sequel stars original cast members Casper Van Dien (Johnny Rico) and Dina Meyer (Dizzy Flores) from 20 years ago, and was written by Ed Neumeier, who was also the screenwriter for the original “Starship Troopers.” Did you know that there were already two sequels already? There was “Starship Troopers 2: Hero of the Federation” in 2004 and “Starship Troopers 3: Marauder” in 2008.

Here’s the official synopsis of the upcoming sci-fi flick:

In “STARSHIP TROOPERS: TRAITOR OF MARS”, Johnny Rico has just been demoted and sent to a small satellite station on Mars whilst the Federation attacks the bugs’ home planet. While trying to train his new recruits on this remote quiet station, the bugs show up in a surprise attack but the Federation’s Fleet is too far away to help. It’s up to Rico and his Troopers to save the planet and uncover how the bugs made it so close to home.

“Traitor of Mars” will only be in 500 select theaters for one day only, August 21. The special showing will feature bonus material, behind-the-scenes footage, as well as interviews with the cast and filmmakers. Tickets for the event will be available online starting June 19.
