For Stephen Colbert’s ‘2016 Year In Review’ He Rewrote REM’s ‘It’s the End of the World As We Know It’

Um…kind of fitting?

2016 has been a wild fucking ride. We had an election, the summer Olympics, the Ryder Cup and so many more memorable and, oftentimes, horrifying moments. From exhausted to rejuvenated, from excitement to scared shitless; it’s a year that has left everyone with different emotions going into 2017. It’s a lot like other years in that way.

What will 2017 have in store? No one knows. Not the media. Not celebrities. Not even Donald Trump, probably. But I think we all still have hope. Hope that it won’t suck a massive dick. And to quote my dear friend Andy Dufresne, “hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies.”
