Bob Dylan Says ‘Fuck It’ Once Again, Plans On Not Attending Nobel Prize Ceremony
Bob Dylan can teach a master-class on not giving a fuck, which is why he’s one of the most iconoclastic artists of all time. He. Just. Doesn’t. Care. about his own fame and celebrity, instead focusing on his talent as “a song-and-dance man,” as he mockingly said at a press conference in the 1960s, infamously trolling the members of the music media.
Dylan was recently awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature, marking the first time a singer/songwriter would win the award. But in true Bob Dylan fashion, he ignored the Nobel Prize committee’s phone calls, presumably because he just doesn’t give a fuck about such an award.
Now it’s official. Dylan has no interest in attending the Swedish ceremony for Nobel laureates in December. If he still wants to accept the award — which is TBD! — he has to give a Nobel Lecture in the next six months. We’ll see if that happens (…hopefully it does because Bob Dylan lectures are awesome).
I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again: The greatest lesson of Bob Dylan is how we all need to be more like Bob Dylan.
