Watch Dave Matthews Play An Awesome Neil Young Cover With Guitar God Warren Haynes

Warren Haynes is one of my favorite musicians of all time. Back in 2004, I bought a bumper sticker at a Widespread Panic show that read “Warren Hanyes Is A Slut.” The founder of Government Mule will literally play with ANYONE — The Dead, the Allaman Brothers, Widespread Panic, his various solo projects, Government Mule, etc. I’ve seen him perform with every single one of those bands, along with moe. and Umphrey’s McGee. Heck, this past weekend I went to his music festival, Mountain Jam, where Warren made the rounds with Michael Franti and Grace Potter, along many others. You don’t even have to like jam bands to respect the hell out of how he can shred the shit out of a guitar. Warren Haynes rules.

Last night Haynes joined The Dave Matthews Band at PNC Performing Arts Center in New Jersey. There were two tremendous highlights from their jam session: An incredible version of Neil Young’s “Cortez The Killer” (which DMB has been covering since, like, 1996) and a fun jam on “Can’t Stop.” If you like tunes with crunchy jam, you’ll enjoy them both.
