After 6 Years The Gorillaz Return With A New Banger Titled ‘Hallelujah Money’

It has been six long years since the Gorillaz last dropped a chart-topping track but they’re back this week with ‘Hallelujah Money’. Is it a coincidence that the Gorillaz make their triumphant return to music the day after news broke that Harambe’s grandmother died? It might, or it might be the Illuminati controlling the world. At this point, we really don’t know.

What we do know is Gorillaz co-founders Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett have a new album up their sleeves, and our bros over at UPROXX have the exclusive details on that.

I’m by NO means an expert in the Gorillaz’ catalog of music, so I can’t say for certain if this track is much more sedated than the bulk of their songs. With that said, ‘Hallelujah Money’ is certainly more low-key than the tracks I’m used to hearing the Gorillaz win awards for.

According to UPROXX, ‘Hallelujah Money’ is a musical protest aimed directly at the Presidential Inauguration of Donald J. Trump: “ It’s a musical statement to capture a moment in time, to question the impact of Trump’s inauguration and to mourn the prioritization of power and greed in our current world.

It’s not uncommon for bands to make political statements around inauguration time but I figured it would be Rage Against The Machine dropping a new track this week, not the Gorillaz. It is nice to see they’re back to work, though, and if you want to read up on those aforementioned exclusive details about their forthcoming album you can CLICK HERE to bounce on over to UPROXX.
