Watch Nirvana Crush ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ In Concert Right After ‘Nevermind’ Was Released

On September 24th, 1991, Nirvana’s second album, ‘Nevermind,’ dropped. It was expected to be moderately successful, with just under 50,000 copies distributed to stores in the U.S.

Instead, out of nowhere, it exploded, making Nirvana the biggest band in America, ushering in the era of grunge and alternative rock that lasted for most of the 90s.

But right before they became household names, Nirvana played a show at a tiny club in Connecticut. This video, uploaded by James Oconnor, came on September 26th, two days after the album dropped.

Twenty-five years later, it still rules.
