What Do We Think Of Kanye West’s New Sneakers, The adidas Yeezy 750 Boost?

When he’s not saying stupid things about talented musicians at parties, Kanye West fancies himself a fashion designer. The shoes he made for Nike last year in February, the Nike Air Yeezy Red Octobers, were fetching up to $5000 from sneakherheads on Ebay.

Kanye infamously got in a diff over artistic differences with Nike and was recruited by The Swoosh’s big competitor, addias, to design fancy kicks. One of Kanye’s latest sneaker releases, the adidas Yeezy 750 Boost, will drop on Saturday (Happy Valentine’s Day!) with a limited release of 9,000 pairs. Each pair will cost cost $350 and tomorrow afternoon a Kanye will give a concert in NYC that will be streamed nation-wide in movie theaters around the country.

If you’re a sneakerhead, this is probably a big deal to you. I’m not, so all I can do is comment on the design of these silly shoes, which reminds me of suede Clark’s Desert Boots with a basketball sneaker sole and a strap that looks like something ripped off from Nike’s Back to the Future Power MAGS. It looks absolutely pointless and cheap. What the hell is the strap’s point? I don’t get it.

They look like great sneakers for, say, comfortably taking a rocketship to Saturn while blasting jams off Graduation, but terrible shoes for getting stuck in a rainstorm while walking around the streets of NYC. I could see someone in a cheesy 70s sci-fi TV show wearing them, but not someone looking to go to the bar and having a good time.

Maybe I just don’t get fashion. Let me lay it out a little more to-the-point:

What do you think, Bros? Dope shoes or the dumbest thing ever? Cutting-edge or tremendously impractical and stupid?
