Kayaks, by nature, are both extremely portable yet simultaneously a pain in the ass to transport. You can paddle a kayak anywhere on the water but you have to get that kayak to the water, and unless you live on the water and can carry it there yourself you’ve traditionally needed a roof rack, truck, or some sort of trailer…until now. The Pakayak is officially the most portable kayak in the world. It assembles in less than 5 minutes, measure 14-feet in length but breaks out into six pieces and folds up into a backpack (3 1/2 long in the backpack).

This is now the world’s first hard-shell kayak that you can take with you on long hikes to get that stream/lake/river at the end of the trail and finally catch that trout which has been eluding you for years…To make a long story short the Pakayak is nearly perfect:

Currently, the Pakayak is still in the KickStarter phase but it’s already 128% funded with over $546,000 pledged, and it’s 100% certain to be made. Here are some images from the KickStarter which show just how this incredible piece of engineering gets put together:

It paddles and rolls just like every other kayak on the planet only when you take it out of the water you’re able to break it down into an extremely portable backpack, making kayaking more accessible than ever.
