We are exactly one week away from the unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy S9. While there have been several leaks and rumors, we don’t officially get to know exactly what the S9 will offer until the Unpacked event on February 25 at the Mobile World Congress 2018 in Barcelona. We did get some clues as to the price, specs, and new features we can expect from the brand new Samsung Galaxy S9.

The S9 and the S9 Plus will be the first Samsung devices to feature 3D emojis and stereo speakers. Korea’s ETNews reports that Samsung’s 3D emojis are similar but more advanced than Apple iPhone X’s Animoji. The 3D emojis track facial movements and then mimic them with animated emojis.

The stereo speakers will reportedly be located at the top and bottom of the S9 and feature Dolby Surround tuned by acoustics company AKG, which is owned by Samsung. Samsung corrected the one design flaw that irked users of the previous S8 model. The fingerprint scanner has been moved away from the rear camera and now is located below the camera as to not leave fingerprints on the lens. But that means that there probably won’t be an in-screen fingerprint scanner as many had hoped. Samsung Galaxy S9 will keep its headphone jack and include AKG earphones in the box.

Last month, there was a leak of the S9’s box, which has some specs printed on it. The box flaunted several specifications including an f/2.4 aperture for extra-wide photos, an industry-leading f/1.5 aperture for photos in low-light situations, new “Super Speed” Dual Pixel 12MP OIS camera, Super Slow-mo video recording capabilities, IP68 water and dust resistance, iris recognition, 64GB internal storage, wireless charging, and an 8MP front camera. Samsung has teased the S9’s ability to capture high-speed 960FPS video shooting, a super slow-motion mode, and low-light video in two teaser clips.

The S9 is expected to have 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage standard. The S9 will most likely feature a 5.8-inch screen and the S9+ will be 6.2-inches. Both screens will be edge-to-edge Super AMOLED Infinity displays with a 2960 x 1440-pixel resolution on both phones. The S9 will be faster thanks to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 chip, which will also provide 30 percent better power efficiency. Design-wise, the new flagship handsets will look very similar to the S8 and S8 Plus.

ETNews is reporting that the Galaxy S9 will cost between $850 and $920, which is more than the Galaxy S8 that had a starting price of $720 when it was released last April. The phones will be available for pre-order on March 1st and will have a release date of March 16. Check out what the S9 might look like HERE.
