The future is now. How do I know this? Because there are electric supercars pumping out 1250 horsepower that look like a cross between the Batmobile and a fighter jet.

This particular car has been dubbed the ‘Tachyon Speed’, and it’s manufactured by southern California-based Rice Advanced Engineering Systems and Research (RAESR). The Tachyon is supposed to have a top speed of near 240 MPH and a 0-to-60mph time of under 3 seconds. Which, while that’s fast as all hell it’s got nothing on the reported 1.9 second 0-to-60mph speed of the all-new Tesla Roadster debuted by Elon Musk last week.

Here’s the first look at the Tachyon Speed from RAESR:

The Tachyon Speed is an electric hypercar developed from the ground up for the ultimate in road and track performance.
Designed and manufactured in Southern California by RAESR (Rice Advanced Engineering Systems & Research), the Tachyon Speed is a proof of concept that showcases an assortment of distinctive features. These include outrageously low (39.5″) and wide (81″) dimensions, a 6-motor 1200+hp proprietary fully electric powertrain, twin double hinged front and rear doors, and a jet-fighter style canopy. Sure, we might not have flying cars yet but we’ve advanced to the point where electric cars have become the fastest vehicles on the planet, and that’s impressive as hell. And the push towards speed from electric vehicles has really only been happening for the past decade. It’ll be crazy to see where we are in a decade from now.
