Why Yes, That WAS A Former Victoria’s Secret Angel Slashing A Guy’s Throat In ‘Wonder Woman’

It was a sad day back in 2015 when long-time Victoria’s Secret models Doutzen Kroes and Karlie Kloss announced they would no longer be Angels. After walking in eight Fashion Shows and appearing in more ads and commericals than we can count, Kroes had decided she wanted to pursue other opportunities.

Little did any of us know that one of those opportunities would end up being Kroes playing an Amazon warrior from Themyscira in Wonder Woman. Yes, if you thought that one of the women on horseback slaying German soldiers on the beach in the movie looked a little bit familiar that’s because it was Kroes.

Entertainment Weekly caught up with Kroes to discuss her new role as Venelia, one of Queen Hippolyta’s most trusted warriors…

“The challenge was that I had to ride with one hand and have the sword in the other hand and kill a person at the same time,” she explains, laughing. “Which sounds horrible, but it was so fun to do!”

It does sound fun and her son definitely agreed…

Kroes recalls a day when her young son visited her, and she greeted him in full battle regalia. “If I could just have that face framed as a picture on my wall,” she says. “I think I melted because he has never looked at me like that ever. He was just in full admiration of his mommy as a warrior.”

Kroes, 32, wasn’t the only one of the Amazon warriors that was pulled in from outside the world of acting either. There was also an Olympic bobsledder, a police officer, a professional fighter, a crossfit champion, a former Miss Greece and a heptathlete. She just might have been the most recognizable.
