Blazed Movie Reviews: ‘Seven Psychopaths’

Seven Psychopaths

CBS Films

I can’t smoke pot at home anymore because my dog gets a contact high. So I do it at the movies. This week: a stolen Shih Tzu leads to all Hell breaking loose in Seven Psychopaths.

Straight up I loved this movie. It’s super hilarious and mean and violent and awesome and the cast is great. Did you see In Bruges? It also had Colin Farrell in it and was directed by the same guy, Martin McDonagh. This movie is sort of like what would happen if In Bruges did a big chunk of Heisenberg’s blue meth.

Here’s the story, for what it’s worth: Colin Farrell plays a writer who is trying to finish a script about serial killers called Seven Psychopaths. He gets hooked up with a crackpot scheme to steal rich people’s dogs and claim the reward money. Christopher Walken is the guy who comes up with this so you know it’s going to end badly. They steal a Shih Tzu owned by Woody Harrelson and realize that he’s not the kind of guy who gives rewards. He’s the kind of guy who gives murders.

And then in the middle of all this we start getting real serial killers who show up in response to a newspaper ad and before you know it blood and guts are flying every which way but loose. We go back and forth between the real world and the screenplay and if it’s a little sloppy, who cares? It’s funny as hell and the cast is so good. Everybody rips into their lines like they were big juicy steaks. Seven Psychopaths is kind of like a Quentin Tarantino comedy, only more self-aware. It’s totally worth seeing, especially with a bunch of friends.

Disclaimer: I fixed all of the typos and grammar errors but left everything else in.
