BoostTurbine: A backup battery with a backup charging crank
Backup batteries are fairly useful if you think you’re going to be somewhere that will see your phone die. But what about when your backup battery dies? What then?
Well, if you’ve got a BoostTurbine, you can just start cranking.
The BoostTurbine starts out as a fairly conventional backup battery. You plug it into the wall, it charges up, and then later on you plug it into your phone, which sucks up all the juice and turns your phone back on.
Where the Boost Turbine is different is the hand crank. If you find the juice you gave your phone still isn’t enough, just turn the crank. Granted that this isn’t going to power your phone to full capacity: Eton, the manufacturer, states that a minute of turning the hand crank will be good enough for either a thirty-second phone call or a few text messages. You won’t be doing anything long term with this one.
Still, it’s nice to have a backup to your backup, and if you’re in a situation where you need a few seconds to make a call, it’s a good thing to have.
