Charles Barkley says Michael Jordan is doing a bad job with the Bobcats
Charles Barkley implied that his buddy Michael Jordan was a bad owner in an interview with ESPN’s Waddle & Silvy Show. Jordan’s Charlotte Bobcats have won four games this year and are devoid of talent at several key positions. Something that falls squarely on his shoulders.
Barkley went on to say that Jordan surrounded himself with “yes men.” People who weree unwilling to give him honest opinions for fear they’ll fall out of his good graces.
“I think the biggest problem has been I don’t know if he has hired enough people around him who he will listen to,” Barkley said. “One thing about being famous is the people around you, you pay all their bills so they very rarely disagree with you because they want you to pick up the check. They want to fly around on your private jet so they never disagree with you. I don’t think Michael has hired enough people around him who will disagree.”
Barkley has confronted Jordan in the past, questioning some of his player evaluations. ”I said ‘Michael, nobody wants to disagree with you. You are such a powerful personality nobody, especially your flunkies as I call them, the flunkies are never going to disagree with you.’”
If memory serves me right, this is the first time Barkley has spoken poorly about Jordan’s reign as owner of the Bobcats. Which, you know, seems weird because he’s the most outspoken NBA analyst. Apparently, Barkley enjoyed those rides on the privates jets as anybody else.
