Batista status and Daniel Bryan’s next feud

WWE’s Payback pay-per-view next month. The original idea was Batista vs. Daniel Bryan for the WWE World Heavyweight Title. Batista turned down the idea and is leaving to take time off about a month early.

Batista’s return has always been on a part-time basis but turning down a title shot and headlining at the next PPV isn’t really surprising. He has to take time off in about a month to promote a movie, so there’s no way he’d go over Bryan and Payback. It would also be Batista’s third straight PPV loss in a row, his second in three months to Daniel Bryan. It doesn’t necessarily make him look like an “animal.”

Batista is taking off early, but the question is, does he ever return?

Worst booking decisions from Extreme Rules

Interesting article from Bleacher Report regarding the worst booking decisions from Extreme Rules. One of the points in the piece is about the match order and I agree with this assessment.

The way a card is laid out can help or hinder the crowd reaction to a given match. Sunday, WWE learned the hard way as they took the most anticipated match of the night, The Shield vs. Evolution, and put it midway through the card. They then watched as the crowd fell largely silent for John Cena vs. Bray Wyatt in a steel cage and really failed to get back into Daniel Bryan vs. Kane until late in the bout.

Evolution against The Shield should have closed the show with The Shield going over. Sure, crowds love Bryan, but there was really never a doubt he’d get the win over an older, slower and not really main event anymore Kane.

Speaking of Kane and Bryan, WrestlingInc.com is reporting that if the Batista match discussed above doesn’t work out, the next rumor coming from WWE involves a Buried Alive match with Bryan and Kane.
